I just noticed that one of my sweaters, which I bought long before I made the decision to go vegetarian, is 30% wool.

Are sheep hurt in the process of getting their wool?

  1.  Sheep Are NOT SHAVEN ... They Are SHAWN .... it's called Sheering.  The wool needs to be Removed from them each Year, otherwise It would become Too Thick and Uncomfortable.  Also The Wool IS NOT hot as some People think.  Wool Retains Natural body heat ... So WOOL can actually Stop You from getting Hotter.  Firemans Uniforms are made from Wool because It's Fireproof ... It Singes ... It doesnt actually burn ... Their Uniforms also are Coated with A Fireproof Gell Type Coating during the making of them.  This dries into The Uniform.
