Question:

Are shows like Grey's Anatomy and ER similar to real life doctors and nurses?

Is there much drama or workplace politics among healthcare providers and workers? Or are they too professional to stoop to that level?

  1. Well, the surgeries are somewhat the same, although they tend to be a bit less dramatic and gory than on grey's...also, the operating rooms are never dark except for the big movable lights like on tv...in reality, they are ridiculously bright. The fact that some surgeons are nice while others can be on the rude/ignorant side is totally realistic. I really don't think that all of the drama goes on between everyone though, as half the time the residents and interns seem too preoccupied with studying to care, and when they are together, they all seem to get along just fine and are friends. But one thing that surprisingly is real is the fact that they really do listen to music and chat and stuff during surgeries...It is actually quite funny! But if you want to see real re-enactments or videos, watch shows like Hopkins on abc, or the discovery/discovery health channels. (Although I also do like scrubs, grey's, er, and house!)...also, try a site online like OR Live to get the feel for what real surgeons are like, how they act, and what an actual surgery is like!

    Hope I helped =]]]

  2. i doubt it i would think that it would be the same as any high pressure workplace...if u dont get along with some there is a mutual agreement to stay out of eachothers way...

  3. There can be some drama, but shows like ER and GA tend to go over the top for the entertainment purposes.

Watch some real shows on the Discovery Health channel, and you will get a better idea of what it is like to work in a hospital.

  4. Nope.. nothing like it.

Watch Hopkins if you are more interested in real life stuff.

  5. I don't think there's as much time for inter-office romance as these shows seem to convey.  Obviously, it does happen, as in any work environment.  But it seems to be almost all that goes on at Seattle Grace!

  6. i seriously dont know but i think that dramas have to be interesting so theres alot going on all at the same time and they have to make really good story lines. when i go into a hospital it doesnt look half as interesting as greys anatomy.

i want to become a doctor because of greys anatomy lol

    xoxo

    hope it helped

  7. NO.

Sometimes lately I have been watching law and order...but nonetheless it is my 1 soap...I only have time for 1 of those. In real life a detective would never ever EVER give that much energy to ANYONE unless there was some type of big money/media involved. Some of the people they help...and how much energy they put into it...and on every episode....I have thought about how funny it would be to make a REAL law and order spoof show....spoofed only because it was based on reality: but still...it is well written...and I like it because of that...ER is much the same way...I haven't seen Grey's Anatomy. But yeah, you know the answer.

  8. NOT.  I quit watching when they got so far fetched I couldn't stomach it anymore.

  9. the Hopkins show on ABC showed how it really is. i work here and it is very similar to what they show on the show.
