Are silver dollars freshwater or saltwater fish?

silver dollar's are tropical freshwater fish they need heated tanks

edit :as I addressed in you other question they should not be kept with gold fish

they come from the ocean -salt water- but also they are brownish when living  i kept one sitting around not in water for 10 years and it finally dies to a fossilized white rockish thing. to answer your question it will die in FW but you wont be able to tell for a while although it wont move... = )

silver dollars are fresh water fish but do be aware that they can get rather big in size
