they are afraid of humans and anyone bigger than them.. thats why they *skunk* so bigger prey will run

Yes they are very afraid of humans and will do anything to avoid them.  They also don't like to spray as well, and us it as a last resort only.  Because they are nocturnal they don't see real well in the daylight so don't think that they can see you.  Make a bunch of noise when walking in areas skunks may be...it works for keeping snakes and other critters away as well.

Somewhat, but they're more confident than other wild animals around anything they encounter because they have a good defense and everything knows it.
