Are soap bubbles always perfectly shaped orbs?

If not, can you have a soap bubble slightly off size, or will they always grow proportionally larger.

  1. In a static environment the size of the bubble is proportional to the amount of soap, surface tension and atmospheric pressure but yes they will be perfectly shaped. In a windy environment the answer is no.


  2. Soap bubbles have two forces acting on them: surface tension (which keeps them spherical) and gravity (which tends to flatten them towards the earth).  The larger the soap bubble, the greater the force of gravity will be; compared to the surface tension, so larger bubbles tend to be flatter (leaving aside other effects such as air resistance and effects of air currents)
