Are social skills learned or also inherent? And how was your day.

  1. Social skills are learned through interaction of thers.  Tho children can be inspired to sway one way or the other by some prompting of the parent.  Example:  If a bully is in the group & picks on one child that is just learning how to interact & get along with others & is terrified of the bully, a parent or caregiver must teach that child not to be afraid & prompt that child to react a different way until the child gaines the will power to fight back or redirect the bully.  Early home training will teach the child to either be socialable & get along with others or the child will go the opposite.  


  2. Social skills are surely not inherent. The ability to behave properly around other people takes practice, and starts very early. It's not inherent if the child's parent never takes the time to properly expose them to social interaction.  

  3. My opinion, a person has to be exposed to social situations to learn from trial and error how to act, interact and increase social skills.
