Are softball and baseball really being eliminated?

I read in the newspaper that softball and baseball were getting taken out of the Olympics in 2012 is it true??? I am mad about it if it is!

Yes, they are!! I am angry, too!!!! They might have it in 2016, if they have another vote, and they want to get it back. If the Olympics will be in Chicago or Tokyo, they WILL probably have it, because those are countries with a lot of softball and baseball support. baseball in the olympics is stupid. i tried watching it the other day and did know of 1 guy playing. its all no-names playing. and softball is dominated by the US so theres no point

Yes they are, due to the difficulty of getting pro-players to show up (coincides with their season) and because the US women won't let the other team score (1 run in two years so far).

yes they are.

i understand why baseball is getting taken out cuz none of the pros can be there during that time in the season.

but softball has no reason to be taken out.

everybody is making excuses that USA always beats everybody and no one else has a chance but its stupid.

theres a petition you can sign that can help try to bring them back for the 2016 olympics.

Yes, it's true.  

The Chinese don't like the sport because judges don't vote on the winner.

The Russians don't like it because the object of the game is to "go home"

And the Arabs don't like it because the word "Bunt" gets lost in translation.
