Are some footy fans that barrack for your team a bit like family members you wish weren't related to you ?

You have to put up with them at certain times of the year even if they are embarrassing a bit like Xmas after a few to many drinks.

h**l yea! being a collingwood fan im glad all of them arnt related to me. they are all quite scary. i dnt get scared often but when i go to the footy i get terrified of the magpie fans. so glad im Pie fan. i can go to sleep safely every night knowing that i wont have collingwood fans coming and choking me in my sleep.

Definitely...I think all teams have their supporters whom display aspects of the "cringe factor". We need to remind ourselves of that when we are at the footy, however, there seem to be a few members in this section who barrack for my team and I don't want people to think I am like that...Oh well at least we don't have Joffa.

I find the same thing with bands- often you go to a concert and there will be so many tools around you feel embarrassed to be part of the same tribe, but you are ;p

as a carlton supporter watching my team in perth there are afew people who take it a bit far in the sledging department but some wce supporter bag out their own players ... and im glad im not a wce supporter ...

Oh yeah.  I think all clubs have them.  Just as one example, some of the Cats supporters at last years Granny were outright offensive towards the Port fans (and vice versa in multitudes!).

I'm sure they all feel they're doing their club a service but they are not far away from the soccer hooligans of Britain.  I don't feel they represent my club.

(I try to be loud but never offensive towards anyone, at least not on this side of the boundary.  I didn't mind ripping into Tredrea over his bow .. but that was mostly in a lot of fun! And as an umpire myself I can't help criticising other umpires!!)

I have to admit,  apart from Forky,  I don't know many other Blues supporters.   If we win a few more games they'll come out of the woodwork.   Or maybe I'm just not observant!   That's probably it.

Yeah i guess so, it's like being an Aussie overseas, some travellers think you have to be all matey with them because they are Aussies, some you wouldn't talk to at home, it's the same as supporters, plenty of nangers barrack for my team too, it's only at the footy you have that connection.

must admit when Fitzroy was playing I use to go to all the games and never found one supporter that wasn't a nice person
