  1. Don't know 1,2,3 but, I work with people who are down and out.

The three agencies I work for are called  community base organization; this agencies help people whom have come upon financial hard times. Families pay taxes so that if a crisis arises there is the opportunity to have a safety net, food stamp cards, medical support and financial support until families can regroup and find another job.

We as people judge ourselves or others to harshly when it comes to public social services; the programs were designs to help families when they need it, but the programs can not survive if families make a career using them. If it take a families a little longer than other family to regroup, than it is what it is.

If a family feel like they are being judge when they are using these cards they can go to the market manager and file a complaint. Market want to make money just like any other capitalize company in our country, they do not and can not afford to lose any customers business.

  2. 1. NO

    2. yes

    3. yes but NO - the card swipes "similar to" a debit/credit card however it uses a different machine.

I used to work in a place where I had to swipe cards & this one wouldn't go through & then the manager got it to go through & when the person left the manager explained that was a food stamp card & that's why we had to use the other machine for it.

Yes some people are embarassed to have a food stamp card & where I live people are very bigoted, there ARE racists down here, there are rude people & yes people look at you different.  I'm not one of them that do, but I've heard complaints from my food stamp carrying friend

    I live in Missouri.

I'm not sure why this answer got a low rating.

  3. no it can't go to your bank account.  If it did the government wouldn't have control over what you can and can't buy.

yeah is on a debit card  called bridge card

Some stores don't take the bridge card but i have seen people swipe it on the regular debit machine and looks like it works just the same

I think the people who are embarrassed to have the card either its because they know they are not trying to help themselves by getting a better job or both people working or its because some people cheat the system to get the card when they don't need it.  I very rarely see people use the card who look like they really need it.

Heck I wish I could get it sometimes but I guess I will just feed my kids and say the heck to the bills from time to time.

  4. 1... NO...

    2... Yes...

    3... Yes..

  5. For the opening question - yes.  Many people are embarrassed to use food stamp cards.  If someone has worked in the past, paid taxes or is a property owner, then there is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed to need a hand in life once in a while.  There are many, many other cases and reasons one might find the need to ask for government assistance.  There is no reason to not ask.  This assistance is - at the most - never really enough to survive on.  If a person in need does receive assistance, the more the person tries to help his or herself, the more they are penalized by the government.  The assistance always goes down if one makes any extra money and it is impossible to get ahead.  It is the sitgma society has placed on people receiving government that creates the embarrassment.  Government assistance should ONLY be available to UNITED STATES citezens and made available to them easily.  IMMIGRANTS AND ILLEGALS SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO COLLECT ANY BENEFITS FROM OUR GOVERNMENT.  Americans should take care of fellow Americans.

    1.  No the money goes onto a card that one may use like a debit card.

    2.  Yes, again, one receives a plastic card resembling a typical bank debit card.

    3.  Yes, the card swipes just like any other debit card, with the card owner using a PIN to complete the transaction.  Most states have a limit on how many times per month one may use the card, no matter how much credit is in the account.  Check with your state Department of Revenue for the EXACT RULES AND REGULATIONS.

If you are an AMERICAN, then you should feel no ill feelings asking for assistance if you really need it.

  6. yes in the state of fla they use what looks like debit card. The only time I ever notice if someones in front of me they add toilet paper to buggy and have to pay for it.So i am not sure if embarrassed or not

I don't think it can go to yr own bank account. The amount they give you for food is jus tput in account...with your number(i believe)

..i know if father pays child support thru st they are setting up accounts through st and giving them cards for this also.

My daughter had her exs sent thru st so they could keep track of his payments late behind ones.

  7. I don't think so. yes they did, yes you can swipe the card just like a debit card it will ask for your Pin number just like a debit card does.
