I drive an automated recycling truck in my borough and I am amazed at how some people say they have "gone green" yet really are such wasteful people.
I was always the last person to care about recycling but after working for my borough and seeing how wasteful we really are, I saw the light. Here are some facts about my town...
I live in a town of about 35-40,000 people.
Our recycling program dumps about 35,000 lbs of recycles per day at the recycling center. We get $20 per ton for those recycles.Thats 4 trash truck loads.Had we have incinerated it, We would pay $80 per ton to dump it.
Everyday our trash guys pick up bags of clothes, good unwanted furniture and you can imagine what else. Many people today break their items purposely before putting them curbside because their attitude is they don't want anyone re-using what they paid for. It's kind of rediculis to think this way.Their are goodwill, veteran and other donation bins all over.Let someone needy have this stuff.
