  1. NOT ALWAYS.

  2. ya but they can still do it at night as long as you can see them in the day

  3. if they're invisible it is not entrapment, they would have to induce you to speed before that came into play - maybe the carrot on a stick trick.

if they are visible,,, what's the point? it's not a trap anymore.

  4. If they were visible, wouldn't that defeat the point?

And no, entrapment is when a officer induces you to commit a crime you otherwise would not have done. In no way did a speed trap encourage you to break the law by speeding. Sorry mate.

  5. No it's not entrapment if they are not totally visible

  6. Visible is a loose term. If you're not paying attention and don't see them, then it doesn't count as entrapment.

  7. Simple.  Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.  Visible or not, an officer can issue a ticket if he observes a violation.

  8. As long as they can testify in court that they had a clear view of your vehicle and can show that it was indeed your vehicle that was caught on radar, they are ok.  Entrapment would only apply if they put up a sign saying something like, "Speed limit does not apply for the next 10 miles".  Radar cars are sometimes out in the open on a straight road and they still get lots of speeders.  Sometimes they are partly behind a bridge abutment with just the radar gun and rear-view mirror visible.  Sometimes they are off to the side where there is a dip in the road and only the top of their car is showing, sort of like a tank's 'hull-down' position.  Sometimes they are just over the crest of a hill so that they have clear radar view of you before you have time to react.  That's all part of good traffic enforcement.  Just for a bit of trivia from a really old guy, but back in the 1960's in my area we were required to have a fully marked car with roof lights and have a 'sandwich -board' sign back up the road that clearly stated, "Radar ahead".  Of course we would sit in a dip in the road and set up the sign so that the first truck that passed it blew it down.  Times change and we have to change with them.  Good luck!!
