also, i only have like 2 more weeks till the actual district track and field, and i want to build my endurance. do u think there is enough time? how much wud i have to do and train each day to improve by alot. ??? thx guys, this is a really easy 10 pts. : )

  1. You should wear spikes for races. You are not running any long distance races.

You are running a long sprint in the 400, and middle distances in the 800 and 1500.

    The 4x100 is a sprint.

Your times will be much better with the correct shoes.

It does not take much time to get used to spikes.

Wear them when warming up in your strides, then use them part of the time for fast intervals.

You just need to ease into them because your calves are going to be sore until you are accustomed to wearing spikes.

  2. No spikes don't help for long distance. Only for sprinting, you may want to get them for relay though if you take it seriously and want to spend the money. For long distance have a shoe with lots of cushion and pretty lightweight. hope that helps..

and to prepare/train for long distance, how would suggest just running long distances like 2 miles a day or something along those lines....whatever your comfortable with

  3. those answers are laughable. any good distance runner wears spikes.  mind you your spikes may be sprinters spikes or cross country spikes and in that case you may be better off in training shoes but even that is debatable. also if youre a 13 year old girl you dont REALLY need spikes. if you dont believe me just google images olympic 1500m thyre all clearly wearing spikes

  4. Answer:

Whether spikes help for distance running or not depends on what you're talking about. If you have soccer and football spikes in mind then forget about them because they will cause much extra friction and actually slow you down and make you tired for distance running! However if you can get your hands on running spikes then do so because running shoes for all distances are designed with very short spikes that give you the necessary friction on the track but still are comfortable, light, and give you a boost when running... because as its obvious they're designed for running! Look at the sources below and those are the type shoes you should be looking for...!

    Recommendation:

If you can buy a runners shoe its great, otherwise between the 2 shoes that you have I would recommend you to wear the asics for both long distance and spirinting... they are light weight and they have more support for your feet and they are still fine for running since they are lighter than your nike shox.

    Training:

Since you have 2 weeks until your track and field meet, you should try to run long distance on a regular basis and do a series of short spirints (40m) in a row  to become faster... Make sure you get lot of practice with your relay team! Always make sure that you are at full speed when receiving or handing off the botton in order to get the fastest time possible! Also do lots of stretches and warm-ups so your body get comfortable and relaxed before running! If you're a started like I used to be then you should practice your starts a lot and make sure you have the proper technique.

    Good Luck!

  5. I find that running spikes are very important in races, they really do get your body in the proper position to run faster. The longest distance I've raced is the two-mile and I use spikes for that.

I definitely recommend wearing spikes, they typically take up to ten seconds off a runner's mile time. If you are running longer races such as the 1500 and 800 I would suggest cross-country spikes.

  6. I just finished track so i hope I help!!

You really dont need spikes for long distance as long as your shoes have good grip. But for the 400 and 4 x 100 i would use short spikes for an all weather track and longer ones for the sandy kind. If you dont like taking spikes on and off between short and long distance events just keep your spikes on the whole time because it won make too much of a difference.

As for your training, to get us in shape, our coach had us run a 20 block route twice (40 blocks) which was about 3 1/2 miles. But we didnt have to run the whole time, although we did this worlout every day. Here`s the pattern: Run 2 blocks, Accelerate 2 blocks, Walk one block then start over. If this seems hard, start out by only running 20 blocks. If you do it every day, 2 weeks is plenty of time. And remember, warm up and stretch well!!
