hi, im a junior golfer playing off 10 and i already get some spin with my wedges, as i use either callaway ix or pro v1's balls. i tried out a friends new spin milled vokey wedges and i get so much more spin with them. However i heard they stop spinning after about 3 months. Are they really worth it, because i can't afford to buy new wedges every 3 months

  1. Yes. I have two of them. 56 and 60 degree. They really spin the ball. The problem is there's no 52. I usually play a three wedge system and 52 is my good stop gap wedge. I wrote to Titleist and a guy from them answered me that they don't need 52, since it requires a full swing, and with spin mill, 52 will ruin the ball. In the end, he asked me if his answer make sense!!! I don't think so. But, where I live lots and lots of people are asking to buy 52 spin mill.

Tell you what, I don't think it stop spinning. I've used it for over a year now.

  2. I own two Vokey Spin Milled wedges, a 56 bent to a 55, and a 58, both oil can finish.  I love these wedges.  I've owned Hogan wedges, Cleveland Wedges, and a Nike wedge.  I have discovered that my wedges get BETTER with age.  I know the grooves wear down, but the trick is to scuff them up nicely, soak them, and get them really rusty.  Don't be scared, the rust is what improves the grip, thus making it even easier to spin the ball.

  3. Like all the wedges, they will get worst as you play with them (of course). I had spin milled, they still work for me, I had it about 7 or 8 months now. I think it is a really good wedge. All the wedges will have less spin as you hit them more and more.

  4. for a advanced player with high clubhead speed . yes . for the average golfer . nope

  5. God yes,  I do not have a better club in my bag.

I got the 54  and 60.  I love them, that 60 has allowed me to take better aim and stop thinking about the roll out.  I do not worry about trying to back the ball up.  (The sppin mill can do that to, but any wedge can do that if struck correctly)

What I have noticed is that the spin milled (Previously played ping wedges) allow me to aim right at the pin or where I want to place the ball with  out it rolling too much after the shot.  Consistantly the ball flies to the green, hops upward and then comes to rest, this is the real magic of the club in comparisson to other wedges I have played.   Before this I had to take roll out into account, now its aim and fire.

Get them, you will always be happy you did.

Mine are eight months old, and they still grip like they did when I got them.  Trick is keeping them clean (grooves) and playing a soft cover ball.
