Question:

Are spirits politically correct? Do they have rights?

I've recently seen several questions about spirits and ghosts on QA answered by various experts indicating ghosts and spirits have a right to be left alone. Similarly, some have said people should respect them and be careful not to slight, intimidate, or otherwise show them disrespect because they have to live too.

There've also been some QAs suggesting the origins of hauntings should be carefully purged of ethnic considerations.

These concepts are new to me because I've come at the whole entity matter from a different direction. Demon possessions, until now, I'd considered worthy of avoidance rather than 'a pal upstairs in my skull'.

Can someone provide me with links to allow me to educate myself on the 'Casper the Friendly Ghost' side of the paranormal?

All links to credible websites will be appreciated.

  1. There are accounts by mediums or channels that discuss the nature of spirits.  Here are a couple of books:  Seth Speaks by Jane Roberts, On Reincarnation and Karma by Edgar Cayce.  I'm hesitant to provide a lot of information on this forum, but if you start with these sources, you'll find more information to help you understand spirits.

In essence, when you are dealing with Demons, you are dealing with creatures that are not fully developed spirits.  They do not have free will and cannot survive without nourishment from other beings.  Often times, demons are stealing energies from other spirits around them.  There are other types of spirits.

One other type is what most people would call a "ghost".  That is, somebody who has died who still hangs around the physical plane.  There are certain people who are able to communicate with these ghosts.  There's no reason to believe that a disembodied spirit is evil or some sort of a lesser being.  For example, if your uncle Rusty was a really nice and funny guy when he was alive, why would he become a scary and mean ghost?  In the same way, is it right to treat your uncle Rusty like a toy just because he's a ghost?  He may be hanging around to try to stay close to you.  He might be lost and confused.  He might even be lonely and looking for support from you.

Being polite, considerate and respectful is a  sign of a civilized mind.  Some people don't display those characteristics with their family or neighbors, but those who do understand those concepts should also understand that spirits are deserving of the same amount of consideration as the living.  Thanks for the question.

  2. Well that s an interesting thing to ponder but since these "spirits" are of a different level no man made law should affect them anyways they have their own physical laws beyond our reach and yes I guess we should leave them alone..they are pretty much gong to do what they are going to do because they are beyond us.........

  3. No they aren't always politically correct, especially if they died in a less tolerant time in history. I was on one paranormal investigation one time and a swear I heard a ghost call me a honky!  I immediately looked around and nobody was there.
