Do they willfully ignore the abuses towards women in their own countries, or are they just not aware of them?

  1. I would say they just ignore the abuses.

Nigeria has skyscrapers too and it's none too developed!

  2. Your generalisation is not fair.  They're not all like that.  Aung San Suu Kyi and the late Benazir Bhutto immediately spring to mind.

  3. if there fluffy gold mine between there legs is being treated well, they dont worry about anyone else

  4. Shhhh! Or their fathers could honourably kill you.

  5. uh--hey sam here's a thought--maybe women in 'developing' countries have a better idea of whats in their own best interests than YOU do.

Oh thats right--american femilibs know whats in everyones best interests...

ask the people of Cambodia; or the old USSR, or.....

  6. Probably both.  I'd say the same thing in western countries too.  I don't care for the rich who take it for granted.

  7. Your article isn't very good at all.  The so called "Global Gender Gap Index" is purely base on "equal outcome" instead of equal opportunity, so it is a pretty poor way to determine the level of gender equality in certain country.  Just because there are a lack of women in certain fields, jobs or positions in the goverment doesn't automatically mean that women are being discriminated against.  Women just aren't interesting in entering those field.

  8. Blinded by their cultures; it would be unfair to call them naive, since the proscribed life they life is the only life that they know.

  9. these people obviously dont understand the suffering that many women experience around the world within developing countries. Women around the world are abused and mistreated by men with no chance to improve themselves.

that is one of the reasons i will continue to fight for womens rights for all the women who suffer through low education, female genital mutilation, forced marriage etc. the fact that women and childre still have to live in conditions like this in the present day is disgraceful.

  10. My mom is not rich, and she's traditional.

You could really say that Mexico is a developing country, but not really, i'm in Tijuana and normal people are pretty much ok.

My mom is a happy woman, she is concerned about the abuse of people, but women are not more or less abused than men here.

People will ALWAYS be abused as La Rose said, and complaining about it it's not going to help.

    OK, that goes too far.

Japan? a developing country? LOL Japan gets technology quicker than the US and is the third most powerful country in the world.

That article is not very smart, women not bing in legislation DOES NOT mean that these women are not equal, it mostly means that japanese women have a different culture and may like patriarch families more.

You can't criticize this culture, is their lifestyle and choice.

I don't think that gender equality means that if there are no women working in the law, there is no gender equality.

It's about the opportunity; and if women like more a patriarch family, a patriarch family is what they have, even tho they could get another kind of life

  11. It would depend on the individual and I think the same can be said about people from any country, it's all relative, I can probably give you examples of UK citizens doing the very same thing. BTW La Rose was posting as a man hater not so long ago so I wouldn't pay much mind. While I was living in one Muslim country I met so many people who would speak out against the status of women, the leader was advocating having one wife (but this might be more to do with embracing the Western economic system) and the inheritance laws had been changed to look after sons and daughters equally, I was friendly with a number of people from how will I say, the upper echelons, one girl, was brought up traditionally and was pretty level headed, another was educated in Europe with other royal brats and would demand, for example, a trip to Adu Dhabi to buy curtain material at 1000e per meter, have it put up and change her mind a week later and bin it. Anyway, people of privilege are that way through the oppression and abuse of others, men women and children, just ask your Queen, like it or not, you personally profit from oppression. We are all in glass houses, we are all living under various delusions and illusions. Hope you are well today Sam  ;  )

  12. you worded the question in a very close minded manner

I think the answer to your question is very complex..but it doesn't seem like you are actually interested in answers so I'll just move on..

  13. Well I don't know about other developing countries save the area I live.

Also this question is too much generalized therefore harder to answer.

In Indian subcontinent there are lots of religions. Normally Buddhist society who follows its rich traditions never do any wrong. Therefore rich Buddhist women always do charity work and live a peaceful life. Also there are human-right/feminists societies  to help others (who need help)

EDIT: But I think there is fact that I can agree with you.  Developing countries are developing as its name says. Therefore most of the people in those countries are in a race to survive or to win. As a result they have forgotten all their good customs and do selfish things. But once they developed

these indexes will change. Also countries like Sweden, New Zealand which are at the top of this gender equality list might change if their economies change.

  14. neither. you just have limited to no knowledge about developing countries or maybe you are naive or prey to biased medias.

by the way, using 'developed' in place of 'developing would have been more appropriate.

  15. i have to agree with la rose, abuse is all over the world yes it may be a little more in other country's and a little more tolerated with the rich. but it does not make it and more okay. we have all kinds of groups that are trying to stop abuse but sometimes there not enough help.

we people need to stand together more now than we ever have this world is getting worse every day. i just hope God has a relay grand plan, if you know what i mean.
