great question . i agree with you totally . i know the history of how this course was built , the devestation , finincial hardship caused to the buisness , employees who built the course ,the membership in a secret society , .a accurate history of this great course was made public , there would not be a tournament at this site . it would be considered a national if not international discrace , also throw golf , into a uproar of outrage , great question . i know the history ,secret society that created this disgrace

You must not watch or play much golf or appreciate what is actually going on this weekend at Augusta.  One the best 3 hole stretches on any golf course in the world.

because it is one of the toughest stretches of holes in all of golf.  First, you have 11, the longest par 4 on the course with a green that slopes severely to the left side, where there is water.  So besically your looking at a long iron into a very narrow target.  Then you have a par 3, which although is short, provides very little room for error.  Just a few yards short could mean the difference between birdie put and water, and a few yards long could mean the difference between birdie putt and nearly impossible bunker shot.  And finally, you have a par 5, which although is easy if you hit the green in 2, has water on the left side of the fairway on the drive and just short of the green.  So basically, these 3 holes are the ones that golfers most fear and how they are played most of the times determines the winner of the tournament.

That's because the officials of Augusta restrict the coverage of The Masters for television.  It's the only hole that they allow TV cameras on during the run-up days.  The golf course is not open to the general public during The Masters and I presume this is to protect the investment of the spectators who do go there who all have to buy a debenture to do so.
