  1. Stop listening to those people.

  2. You have to be very ignorant of the facts to think that. Who are these "some people?"

  3. No, stars are spheres of incandescent plasma, each generating its own light and heat through nuclear fusion taking place in its core. You won't find a single scientist anywhere in the world who believes stars are rocks.

  4. Why not introduce me to these folk?  I have a couple of cubic kilometres of space for sale, conveniently located between the Earth and Mars in a nice warm spot.  Only 50 cents a cubic metre.

Some people say the Earth is flat too.

  5. Sometimes I'm just amazed at the questions on here. Try watching more Discovery Channel less American Idol

  6. Huh? And I thought the 2012 theory was bad... who said this? I haven't heard this one yet!

    So what your saying is:

The sun is the only object that has nuclear fusion and its light is spread, in some cases, billions of light years to other rocks in the sky we call stars. Then this light is flung billions of light years back to Earth for us to see at a magnitude GREATER than the sun? Who said this?

  7. My guess is that these "some people" are in-patients at a mental hospital.

  8. no, stars are like our sun

if they were rocks they would be too far away for us to see the reflection of our sun on them

  9. this is probably not a real question, but i'll answer it anyway in case it is.  stars, like the sun (which is a star), are giant balls of gas.  the gases are mostly hydrogen and helium.  they "shine" because of their immense heat.  rocks, on the other hand, are cold, and do not shine.
