  1. Don't really know, I know here in US most stores are open on the 4th of July til atleast 6:00pm

  2. While many people may be taking today off to stretch their Canada Day holiday into a four-day weekend, closures won't take place until July 1st .

Beer and liquor stores, banks, post offices and other government buildings will all be open Monday  before closing Tuesday.

Meanwhile, celebrations will also close down some city streets Tuesday.

Events at Queen's Park will close the area from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a celebration that is expected to draw 10,000 people. Road closures in effect from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. include:

Queen's Park Cres. E. at Wellesley St. W., Grosvenor St. and College St.

Queen's Park Cres. W. at Hoskin Ave. and College St.

Grosvenor St. from Queen's Park Cres. E. to Surrey Pl.

East York's Canada Day Parade will shut down Cosburn Ave. from Cedarvale Ave. to Oak Ave. from 8 a.m. to noon.

Scarborough's Canada Day Parade starts at 5 p.m. and will form in front of the Civic Centre on Borough Dr. and head westbound down Omni Dr., south down Brimley Rd., ending at Lawrence Ave. E. From 2:30-6 p.m. Borough Dr., south of Town Centre Court and Omni Dr., from Brimley Rd to Borough Dr. will be closed to traffic. From 4:30-8:30 p.m., Brimley Rd., from Progress Ave. to Lawrence Ave. E will also be closed.

Also Tuesday, the Hudson Bay Company is hosting its annual Run for Canada 10 km run. Participants will start gathering at the east end of Remembrance Dr. around 7:30 a.m. The race will begin at 8 a.m.

The run will shut down all lanes on Remembrance Dr. and will use the eastbound curb lanes on Lake Shore Blvd. W. Police warn motorists that the run will likely cause traffic delays on Lake Shore.

TTC service will not be affected.

Events are expected to continue until around 10 a.m.

Later in the evening, Ontario Place will be capping off the holiday with their annual fireworks display. This year, the display is part of the Festival of Fire, which includes four days of culturally-themed fireworks, lights and musical performances.

June 28 was themed South Asian, July 1 is predictably surrounding Canada Day and July 3 focuses on Latin America. The grand finale is scheduled for July 5.

Fireworks start at 10:30 p.m. each night, weather permitting.

Expect traffic slow downs on the adjacent portions of Lake Shore Blvd. W. and the Gardiner Expressway.

  3. Most stores will be closed because July 1 is a statutory holiday.  Convenience stores and some restaurants along with tourist stuff (CN Tower, zoo etc.) may be open but that's about it.  All government offices including banks and the post office will also be closed.

  4. yes, most likely all of them
