Hello,

I'm going to travel to Germany this upcoming march,

And I was wondering if stores and shopping centers are open on Easter, March 22 which is a Saturday (easter saturday)

To be specific, i'm going to be at Hagen.

Thank you!

  1. some stores might, but most won't

  2. @Tuck: Sorry, but Germany is not Catholic-dominated. If you look at all people living there those in the north are mostly Lutheran Protestants and those in the south are mostly Roman Catholics (basically in Bavaria and Saarland). Baden-Württemberg is mostly Lutheran Protestant.

Well, to answer your question anyway... Shops and shopping centres will be open on Saturday, 22nd March, but they might close a little earlier than usually. They certainly won't be closed as every shop wants to sell as much as possible before Easter. But shops will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday as they're both ecclesiastical holidays

So in case you want to shop on this day, Saturday, you better get up early and finish your shopping by lunch time.

Have a nice holiday in Germany.

  3. it depends. germany is a catholic-dominated country. most large shopping centers will be closed. but some small stores will not

  4. First of all: the Pope is from Germany - but Germany is not dominanted by Catholics;  there are actually more Lutherans in Germany. Stores will be closed nationwide on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Stores will be open on Easter Saturday .. try to make it to Hamburg, the shopping capital of Germany.
