If not, what types of stores remain open on Saturday? I am going there on holiday from a Fri-Sun and am worried I may not be able to buy anything on the weekend.

  1. at least in reykjavík, i noticed hardly any stores closed that were otherwise open on weekdays. the IÐA bookstore, for one, located downtown, is open from 9.00 to 22.00, every day of the week. you won't have any problems at all!

  2. No, it's not true. Many stores have early closing at 2 pm on most Saturdays, but some are open later and the malls are open to 6 on Saturday. Many stores stay open until 6 pm the first Saturday of the month. In the summer there are some stores that don't open on Saturday, but there will be opportunities to shop. The malls also have limited Sunday opening hours.

  3. never heard about iceland
