Are straws the same material as Ping Pong Balls?

i would like to know cause i would make a smoke bomb out of straws instead of ping pong balls? it doesent really matter anyways cause i will just try it tommorow

yes. both of them are made from plastics.

Straws are made out of a polymer which isn't flammable as the one used in ping pong balls.  They will just burn like a candle and melt.  They will make a smell, but not much of a smoke bomb.
