Many people(esspecially in US) say teachers are stupid, parents are stupid, government are stupid and not enough money for the school. But deep within me i think the real main cause is the attitude of a bunch of stupid school students that started all these nonsense. They skipped school, they smoke weeds and cigarettes, they drink booze, they won't do their homework, they're bullying other students for nothing, they loot, they steal. When this is happening, who's to blame?Parents?Teachers?State Gov?NO!!!..The students themselves are the main culprit of all these nonsense.I'm not an American citizen so I'm quite baffled with this scenario. Why parents, teachers and state officials kept blaming eachother for a mistake that they did'nt do?Why don't they put a full focus of the level of diciplines among the school students? Are they affraid of the students? Are they affraid that the so-called "The American Way" might died out if student's dicipline were the main focus here?

  1. it's not the student's fault that the education system sucks. yeah, they're contributing to it, but it's the TEACHER's fault. i was well-behaved, ready to learn, and disciplined in school. when students were obnoxious in class, the teachers spent more time trying to discipline them than actually teaching students who wanted to learn, like me. this went on all the way from middle school to my senior year. i dropped out because i wasn't learning anything. i got my ged and now i'm in college- they don't deal with ill-behaved kids here, they kick them out. that's what they NEED to do.

  2. Could not disagree more.  The problem IMO is two fold.  Parents with the "my kid wouldn't do that" attitude, coupled with removal of the teachers ability to discipline.  The second problem is the curriculum set by the Government.  "Johnny can't read but he sure does feel good about himself".  PC c**p has taken the place of the three Rs.

  3. In my opinion, Emerson is closer to the point than steam.  The reason that teachers have to spend so much time with the problem students is that teachers do not have the power to kick students out of the classroom.  That is one reason that I am glad to be out of the traditional school system and working in a charter school where there is closer contact between the teachers and the administration.

  4. If you read journals on education research, the low assessment scores (which translates to low school performance) is a worldwide phenomena, it's happening everywhere (not only in the US) with the exception of a handful of countries. Lack of discipline is an effect, not a cause.

One of the main causes researchers see is that students today have too many things competing for their attention, from those brought about by technological innovations to changes in the social structure. It's the ability to cope with rapid changes which sets high performing schools from low performing ones.

  5. the main reason is that children get distracted really easily by things then one thing leads to another and they forget most of what they learn  its all about responsibility and cooperation!!!

  6. I AM an American citizen, and I've never met the type of students you describe, even in the poorest of neighborhoods.  If students are acting that way in some place, then it IS the fault of the parents and teachers for allowing it.
