  1. yes, Subaru is more reliable than Honda, Toyota, and Nissan!

my 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5i has 89,000 miles . (i drive 90 miles going to and from work each day) and it has been 100% trouble FREE. im even still on my original brakes and rotors. I do all the routine maintenance on it myself, and it is very easy (ex. oil, transmission fluid, air filters, spark plugs etc.)  and it get 32mpg on the highway.

it also goes through 3 feet of snow WITHOUT slipping

  2. In my opinion, every car will break once in a while, timing belt, transmission, drive train, etc....

But you paying around 24K for a AWD, ABS, standard car, I don't think other manufacturer cannot beat it.

I have 3 legacy (94, 95, and the 30th anniversary edition), due to my driving habits, all of them still survived and the 2nd hand buyer was so happy about the car.

  3. I think so. I've had an '01 Legacy since '02 and it didn't need anything fixed until this year. I had a leaky radiator replaced in March and the ignition coil, spark plugs/wires, and valve cover gaskets replaced in April. That's the only time I've had to put much money into it.

  4. I love my 98 legacy 2.5 GT, it fast and corners very good, very reliable!

  5. 2..2 and 2.5 sohc was the best

the 2.5 dohc as prom head gasket leaking crack head but

    not all the time

get the car check out  look at left rear of engine

head commons place to see the leak

  6. I used to think so. Lately, I have heard a lot of stories from owners about cracked cylinder heads, clutch plate failures, transmission issues. The one thing I can say is that it seems Subaru has really stood behind the product, even though the cars were slightly out of warranty, or fo parts that were considered expendable.
