  1. they are the best option if you are eating at a fast food outlet.

  2. Well, they're a lot better than most other fast food places.  But it really depends on what you put on your sub, if you load it up with mayo, oil, and ham, then it's not as healthy as you think it might be.

  3. They are still mainly bread - they don't put on extra meat unless you ask them - and that''s a lot of carbs.  The whole wheat roll would be better.

They're not "healthy" but they're not "not healthy".  As long as you don't load them with mayo and stuff, they're okay.  Fruits and veggies and whole grains still remain the best.

  4. It depends on what you get.....if you load up on the meat, mayo etc.  It is not going to be that healthy...try the veggie sub with fat free honey mustard dressing......yummy!

  5. It all depends on what one you get and what you get on them..

But I would have to say NO they are not.

  6. They are healthy in comparison to most fast food places, but I personally don't trust the meat. It just doesn't look right. Also, people forget that toppings such as cheese, mayonaise, ranch etc. are fattening.

I think the Veggie or Turkey sub has the least fat, but again, you have to make sure you omit high calorie toppings.

  7. If you overlook the preservatives in the meat.

  8. Just like everything else you eat it can be as unhealthy or healthy as you make it. For example at Subway you could have white bread with a high fat meat, mayo, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper and no veggies  which is not the healthiest of choices or you could have wheat bread with low fat meat or no meat, lite mustard, lots of veggies, no salt only pepper much healthier choices.

I usually get turkey or no meat only cheese with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, pickles, black olives, vinegar and pepper only.

  9. Just depends on what you get..

  10. it all depends on what you get, what you put on it, etc. such as the type of bread, extra condiments, etc.

leave off the mayo and cheese and get plain whole wheat bread and stick with the low fat meats or get a salad without the fatty dressing.

  11. NO!!!

Subway sprays their lunch meat with bacteriophages(viruses) to keep bacteria from growing on it..  The link to the article is in the source area.

  12. No i really don't think so

  13. It is relative. Compared to a Big Mac or Whopper, they are VERY healthy. Compared to a good salad, then maybe not. It also depends which sub you choose. Every sub on the menu is not low in fat, but the ones that are... well, those are definitely healthier than most foods.

The healthiest sub you can get there: turkey on wheat, no mayonnaise, with lots of vegetables.

  14. All these answers are good, but they all point out different things...i.e: the bread-white or wheat or this or that, is still brad, still full of carbs...; the meat: processed, whether low fat turkey, bologna, what ever- it is still processed..; the dressings: how exciting is a dry sandwich? BLAH! there are healthier choices out there, but be for real...who wants a dry sandwich? and then there are all toppings...lettuce (good), tomato (good), cheese (not good), olives (not good), pepper (good), etc etc...by and by I believe that SANDWICHES, no matter where they come, from are not good for you. And be careful getting into salads...they can be just as bad...

  15. Absolutely, just pick carefully.  They have several sandwiches with lean meat, fresh vegetables and low fat dressing or mustard.  They make it easy, too; on the menu, they list the 'healthy choices' you can order and how much fat they have.  Al long as you don't add mayo, cheese, etc the sandwiches deliver as promised.  ALso, you can have lo fat chips, ready chopped apples with your sandwich instead of regular chips...  The sandwiches are smart because they offer a good balance of protein and carbs so you won't be hungry soon after.

  16. That would depend on what you order and what condiments you put on your sandwich. If you get a veggie sub on wheat bread..that would be healthy..now you go adding tons of mayo and some cheese..you just shot that down the drain.

They have a chart that shows all the low fat sandwiches and I think they have little wording at the bottom to tell you what it has on it to make it stay healthy.

  17. no they are not really all that healthy.  But they are better than fast food thats for sure.

  18. no...they are jsut A LOT less bad for you than its competetors (bk wendys etc)
