Question:

Are super punches/ killing blows actually possible?

In films with fight scenes, there always seems to be 1 punch that swings the fight around, often sending the opponent flying backwards etc. Is it actually possible to throw a punch with that kind of power and if so, what is the technique for it?

  1. A super punch that sends you flying is movie magic !

Is it actually possible to throw a punch with that kind of power ?

You can throw punches, that will leave someone stumbling/or kind of falling backwards like a drunk.

It's called a knockout punch, the technique is hitting the person hard on the chin.

    " Haven't you seen boxing ? " ~haha

  2. The actual hardest strike is a knee from the thai clinch if done properly, the force from pulling the head down and driving the knee up is the most forcefull blow.  It has the capibility of crushing the chest cavity.   I have seen some peple lifted off of their feet from certain shots but to actually go FLYING through the air is something i doubt i will ever actually see.  But a killing blow can come from almost any kind af shot or strike.  I had a friend who died from falling on ice, so i am pretty confident their are plenty of people who can hit harder that the blow that he received. Its all about the person getting hits starting health history and the placement of the shot.

  3. the movies are a famous for mythical techniques. the strike is not as important as the target. with a skillfully landed strike there are a few places  one can hit that will cause death. as far as the bad guy just flying backward a good side kick or even a front kick can do that.

  4. Remember that movies are an exaggeration of reality.

To send someone back, the strike will take the quality of a push. Most people strike like this accidently, especially after training on heavy bags without support. It does not send the person "flying" but does make them move back.

There are portions of the human anatomy that are distinctly weak against certain types of strikes. The same strike that can be used to start someone's heart (chest compression) can send a short circuit of sorts to stop it. Numerous places on the throat can result in death. Certain strikes to the midsection can rupture organs, though this is dependent upon the opponent's physiology as well as the penetration of the punch and other factors. People die from concussions all the time. Whiplash from a head strike could conceivably break someone's neck resulting in paralysis or death. Arterial and venal strikes can cause clots which can be lethal.

I hope this is sufficiently vague to not encourage you to go out and try anything like it.

  5. Of course. Haven't you ever seen a boxing match?

The technique? Aim for the tip of the chin or the temples and learn to "throw" your punches.

That's boxing. There are other ways. In fact, there are plenty of things that will disable an opponent if you do them right.

  6. of course a killing blow is possible thats why ppl train in the martial arts.

  7. Its kind of funny to read all the answers on here about how boxing should be your example.  You have to remember that boxing is a sport, there is a reason why they wear 16 oz gloves.  Boxing techniques aren't really meant to be used in street fighting....an example of this is a couple years ago when Mike Tyson broke his own hand punching someone in the streets of Las Vegas.  If you have seen the movie "Fearless" with Jet Li, his kill shot on his opponent in the reastaurant is actually possible to do....this comes from developing what the chinese refer to as a "heavy fist", this comes from conditioning your hands to be stronger.  you start out when punching something like a bag of sand, at first your hand will be real sore and it will hurt....but after working on the bag of sand for a long time, you hand becomes conditioned to it, and you eventually move up to something harder (bag of pelets)....eventually you will be able to punch solid concrete without hurting your hand.  But the whole thing in the movies where the person flies through the air after being punched is all rope work, its not possible to do (to that degree).

  8. BAS RUTEN has caused opponents to black out with liver and spleen punches.

Kicks to the groin can cause unconciousness  and can kill if you sever the prostate nerve.

Some people aren't knocked out as in a punch to the chin but black out from shock and pain from strikes to other targets.

  9. Yes.  Spear hands and chops to the throat are a killing blow.

Round house or back kicks to the head are a killing blow.

    Eye jabs can be lethal.

A reverse punch to the head can be lethal.

Judo chokes can be very lethal if not released.

Please do not judge the martial arts by sport karate or sport Tae Kwon Do or sport Judo or by MMA garbage.

The martial arts are not a sport, and when properly practiced by years of hand & foot conditioning on gravel, bricks, makiwaras and other realistic training, then Karate, Kung fu, Judo, Jiu-Jijtsu are all extremely lethal.

  10. no you cant throw someone with a punch, physics tell you that. killing blows though are very possible blows to the head can kill and throat strikes are lethal

  11. The boxers punch is the deadliest.  There was a study done comparing Martial Arts and such and it was proven that the boxer's punch had the most force and in fact could/ would knock someone out even kill a person with one blow, especially if he/she hits right on the "button", the chin.

(had to get that "she" in there,.smile.)
