If you meet someone who treats you like c**p find another spot, someone else to surf with, go to another shop. By shop I don't mean a board store (snow, skate, surf) but a shop that specializes only in surf. Hang out and get to know people.

The owner of my store (surfed Huntington his whole life) said he and his crew are never too good to hang out with anybody. Generally the community doesn't support aggro bs.

it depends if you're an idiot who gets in front of everyones way on a really crappy day where everyone is desperate for a wave than yes i yelled at a boogie boarder today for dropping in on me when i was clearly the first one up and the closest to the break....

No, just follow the rules of surfing etiquette and you should have no problem. but drop in on me and I will  let you know it.
