Are swimming and diving speedos the same?

At the olympics those dudes doing the diving and synchronized diving events wear speedos but they look smaller and more sculpted than those of the swimmers in my local pool. Is this the case or is it because the have the bodies we all wish we had!

  1. Professional divers are more likely to have their suits professionally fitted, and people at the local pool just buy off the rack without trying on.

  2. The answer to your question is Yes.

    Speedos are Speedos.

(like Vans are Vans, Sketchers are Sketchers, etc.)

But there are different styles and fits so they might not be

the exact same, but I'm sure a well sculpted body enables

them to wear the smallest of the styles and look great in 'em!

  3. People at the local pool are wearing the same suits just several sizes too big.  Serious competitors wear suits that are pretty tight.

  4. Some people don't buy the right size. Other's buy ones with a thicker side. Most professionals wear ones with a narrower side.

  5. Speedo® makes racing swim brief styles and a diving swimsuit style.  They are both form fitting swimsuits made from the same fabric.  The racing style has about a 3 inch sideseam.  The diving suit has a longer sideseam length at 7 inches.  Those sideseam lengths vary with waist sizes.  I haven't seen a similar dive suit in other swimwear brands.

Olympic athletes wear different styles and fabrics than the styles I mentioned.  Swimmers wear technical suits like FastSkins in various styles.  I don't know what divers wear but the men's suits don't look like the 7 inch sideseam dive suit Speedo makes.
