Are tanning beds vitamin d different from vitamin d of the sun for deficient vitamin people?

are they both the same i m in an area where i never get sun and im vitamin d deficient. i know tanning beds give vitamin d, but is there a significant difference?

  1. tanning is generally unhealthy, better pick up a carrot.

    vit. d3 is vit. d3, it doesn't matter if it came from sun rays or uvb radiation.

Vitamin D is utilized by your body when you are exposed to the sun.  If you were a hermit and NEVER went out into the sun you would probably develop a deficiency.  I would NOT go to the tanning bed thinking it's healthy to do so just so I can get Vitamin D.  It only takes 20 minutes in the sun (not sun bathing) for your body to start using Vitamin D.  Vitamin D is useless unless there is sun exposure to help your body break it down and use it.  Driving to the beach and having your arm in the window is SUFFICIENT.
