  1. I do believe so, and even if the "code" says no there are these wonderful things called waivers as long as the tatoo is appropriate.

  2. Yes. Pretty much it just can't go above the collar or past the wrist. And it cannot be on the face or neck. besides that you should be fine.

  3. Yes, as previously stated. The forearm(s) is pretty common. Hands and neck are not. Regardless of where they are loacted you will have numerous tattoo screenings. If racist, sexist or extremist then fix it or don't come in. There are waviers for things, but the tattoo thing is becoming more strict.

  4. yes, only place tattoos are not allowed now is above your jaw bone. The tattoos can't be racist, extremist, or anything like that.

  5. Yes but you will have to let your recruiter know and if there is a problem you may need a waiver depending on how long the tattoo stretches on your forearm.

  6. The Army has the least restrictions for tattoo's out of all the branches. They revised there policy in 2006, so you can now have tattoos on your forearms, hands, and back of your neck. Below are excerpts from the new policy. I was an Officer and had plenty of tattoo's and was never questioned. Some people's answers are quite dated. Look at the article attached, it is the new army rules.

The Army has revised its policy on tattoos in an effort to bolster recruitment of highly-qualified individuals who might otherwise have been excluded from joining.

Tattoos are now permitted on the hands and back of the neck if they are not “extremist, indecent, sexist or racist.” Army Regulation 670-1, which was modified via a message released Jan. 25, also now specifies: “Any tattoo or brand anywhere on the head or face is prohibited except for permanent make-up.”

The new policy allows recruits and all Soldiers to sport tattoos on the neck behind an imaginary line straight down and back of the jawbone, provided the tattoos don’t violate good taste.

“The only tattoos acceptable on the neck are those on the back of the neck,”

“The Army does not have a percentage policy for tattoos,” Minitrez said. “As long as tattoos do not distract from good military order and discipline and are not extremist, racist, sexist or indecent they’re permitted.”

  7. Recently the ARMY has changed the rules about allowing military men and women or people entering the ARMY to have tattoos. The rule now is that men and women are allowed to have tattoos as long as it is not on the head or face or it is not something racist, sexist, etc.

  8. Yes.

  9. The regs are what they are. You can get in most times with a tattoo as long as it is not visible.

The problem comes later even with forearm tats. When moving up the ranks the assumption is made that if a person needs to have one to show who they are....... instead of having inner confidence and showing that by their actions or words. They are mentally weak. It has been so forever.

Join but unless you hit the right path you won't ever get anywhere.

  10. Another way to understand the regulation is if any tatoo can be seen while in uniform (long sleeve) then they can't enlist.

...but, I've put in applicants with tatoos on the neck with waivers so there's always a chance.  But they're more the exception rather than the rule so take it with a grain of salt.

Tatoos on the arm don't generally cause problems unless they are offensive or gang related.  If they are, forget about enlisting.
