  1. After a few days, you will notice some peeling and possibly a little scabbing. Excessive scabbing could indicate a poorly-done tattoo, but a little is sometimes normal and there is no need to panic. Apply warm moist compresses to the scabs for about 5 minutes 2-3 times a day to soften them and they will eventually come off on their own. (Do not apply ointment or lotion to a softened scab - wait for it to dry) You will also start to itch, just like a sunburn when it begins to heal. The advice here is, don't pick, and don't scratch! If the skin itches, slap it. If it is peeling, put lotion on it. And if it is scabbing, just leave it alone. Your tattoo is almost healed, and now is not the time to ruin it!

  2. *looks down at 1 week old tattoo on my leg*

Yep!  The skin has been "damaged" by the millions of little needle pricks - it'll scab over and start flaking within 3 - 5 days after getting inked.  (ever had a bad sunburn that peeled a couple of days later... it's much like that).

It's normal.  Just keep putting lotion on every few hours.  Don't pick or scratch and your tattoo will heal nicely :)

It usually takes a couple of weeks for it to completely heal.

  3. ive heard it alot so i assume its normal. but dont pick at it. it may ruin the tattoo. let it heal on its own.

  4. The skin may peel at first but I don't think that it is anything to worry about. Leave it alone until the tat is dry and set - one week to make absolutely sure. Then you can start using a moisturizer or Vaseline to help control the peeling.

Hope this is of some help to you!   ☺

  5. Yes, but don't pick at it or you will ruin the tattoo.
