Question:

Are tea bags vegan/vegetarian?

I.e. do they contain glue. I heard some of the ones with string do. Anyone know?

  1. I swear the teabags are sewn, not glued (I would think glue would come apart with the heat and may alter the flavor of the tea).  Purchase a bag, and see if it's glued or sewn.  You can always give the tea to a friend if you find it's glued.


  2. Some herb tea bags are stapled together, no glue at all.

    Best thing to do, is contact the manufacturer and ask about the glue, or, just avoid anything you aren't sure about.

  3. Of course they are vegetarian as they made of some natural vegetable and some artificial fibers.

  4. yep - I heard something about the glue on envelopes though, but its just silly.
