or is that a bit unreasonable?

there were 11 questions in which we had to identify different parts of dissected animals. this included a fish, which had a completely different anatomy than any other animal we had studied

the questions were completely unclear and i had to keep asking the teacher questions.

  1. yes they can do that some teacher will give 4 or 5 short finals and combine them....i agree i always hated when my teacher gave short hard finals...but they are allowed to do so.....a few times my teacher said they were finals but for some reason they weren't...they either changed it or just wanted us to prepare more...yeah but the teachers can do that and it is pretty common

  2. The final should allow for enough time for student to respond to the questions. However, it's difficult to say, without seeing the questions, whether they could be answered in five minutes or not. Did you actually clock the final as "5" minutes? Should you have been familiar enough with the information to have answered it rapidly? Were the questions really unclear? This is all from your perspective. What did the other students say?

  3. Sure they're allowed. However, if everyone in the class got a 70% or worse they should grade the final on a curve. If the highest score was a 73 then an A should probably be something like 73-68. You have the right to ask the teacher if they're going to curve the grading since the entire class did poorly. Although everyone better have done poorly. If one person got a 90 or better you don't stand a chance.

  4. Are they allowed? He or she can do this, but definitely should have prepared you by letting you know what the format of the test would be. As longs as it is reflective of what has been taught and learned, the format shouldn't really matter. If you feel that you weren't able to show what you know, discuss this with the teacher.
