Are teachers allowed to keep students after school without permission?

are teachers allowed to say to the class "your all in on friday afternoon for one hour and a half and if you don't come you get a holiday detention" and they don't give you a slip so your parents don't know about it?

uhhh it really depends on the school but at mine they have to give a slip and have it signed by yer parent and they can only keep you to a certain time i think its five or six

At my school, we have to post our office hours the first week of school to let the parents be aware of when we stay after school.  I have never threatened students with friday afternoon detention frankly because what teacher wants to stay late on friday.  This circumstance seems a lil fishy, if you ask me.
