Whenever I come to this section of Y!A I always see tons of questions like "Am I pregnant?", "What are the chances of me being pregnant?", etc.

What I want to know is...are girls really THAT uneducated that they don't know how to figure out whether or not they're pregnant? Or do they just do it for the attention? I'd really like to know...

  1. I don't think it's that they are that uninformed, it's denial or just plain stupidity. There is enough information out there to advise on pregnancy. But personally I think it's a case of they don't want it to be them so they're look for an alternative answer to their symptoms.

  2. i totally agree my gf wouldnt do a thing with me if she didnt know the facts

  3. Some people do it for attention. Others are really that unformed I couldn't believe it until i was watching a documentary and listen to kids that didn't know that.

  4. I think they're just stupid. How in the h**l would we know if they are pregnant or not? What they should do is go out and buy a d**n pregnancy test, they don't cost more than $2 and are a h**l of a lot more accurate than yahoo answers. Also, the best way to avoid having to ask that question to begin with is to keep their d**n legs closed and quit having s*x altogether. And like the other person said, it's not just girls that are misinformed. It's guys, too.

  5. I really think they do it for attention its so annoying!

  6. I kinda think they want to hear others say they are prego when they already know the answer

  7. I'd say attention, considering some of they're questions, have simple and obvious answers.

  8. I think they really don't know. They need better s*x education program in schools. I truly believe there are so many underage pregnancies because of how uninformed they are.

  9. like 88 % pretty much are

  10. Some for the attention and some because they don't have s*x ed early enough now. I think they really don't have a clue how they got pregnant with the pull out method or whatever. They are really that clueless!

  11. I would say attention. How they can never figure out if they are pregnant or not is beyond me. If they don't know how in the world do they expect anyone here to know?

  12. well about 1/4 are trolls just trying to get attention, but i totally agree.

they will talk about that kinda stuff online where we cant really help them. all we can say is get a a pregnancy test.

im 15 and i am informed and i hope to never be stuck in that situation, and i think i could figure it out if i ever was in that situation.

  13. i don't know if teen girls are really that uninformed about things today..i think that part of it may have to do with the parents as so much as the kids..parents don't really want to think about there teen age girls having s*x and doing things that would seem improper.. my parents were very much that way.

parents hear the news and see things going on around them and i guess they want to keep they kids children for a little longer in a way of protecting them.. but what parents and others need to understand is that the world is not as safe as it seems and children are not as Innocent as we want them to be...kids are going to have s*x and do things long before we think they should... it's the world we live in...if you want to know what i mean about the parents, i meet a girl that was 23 and she didn't know what an abortion was! i know that she may not have been the sharpest tool in the shed, but how could she have not known that?

  14. attention.they are so annoying.if you have unprotected s*x or the condom brakes and you missed ur period which has been regular for the past several months ur pregnant.to all the "pregnant" girls reading this STOP ASKING THAT QUESTION!!!becuz ur gonna get the same answer as every1 else.no one can be that stupid.especially if ur smart enough to have s*x.its embarrassing that the girls are around my age(i'm 14) and they're american.but wat can i do,change the world?!?oh well

wow i cant believe mccains running mates daughter is pregnant.that is a really bad thing.but most ppl are democrats anyways and its not like he's gonna win wen he's 95% like bush. OBAMA!!!!!!!

  15. I think attention. ;]

  16. well some of those questions on here are fake.

    people just want attention.

but unfortunatly alot of girls AND GUYS are very uninformed about aaalot of things to do with s*x.

  17. i agree with you, i mean seriously how hard can it be to figure this stuff out? unless they have been ditching school and having s*x instead.

but i learned about all this when i was 8. and im 14 now.

mainly though, its probably for attention. teenage girls cant be THAT dumb. Some cant even spell out the word pregnant

they say prego or preggers. i hate that.

  18. Good question. let me know if you get the answer! (personally, i think its for attention. but just how much attention could internet satisfy)

  19. "The What Goes into the WHAT?!?"

  20. Yes, Greta, most of the girls who come on here are uninformed and uneducated about the way their bodies work. If they really understood any of this, or were knowledgeable about how to protect themselves against pregnancy or disease, they would never have been here. I think it's appalling how many girls know absolutely NOTHING about their bodies, about relationships, and how to say "NO" when a guy feeds them a line to get them in the sack, the way so many guys do. I'm a long time member here, and I have had a "top contributor " badge on my name more than once- and like you, I am almost always saddened to see the constant questions about pregnancy from the teen girls on here. I work in the medical field too, and I know from experience how many of these young askers are talking about themselves or someone they know.

I don't blame these children- it's not their fault they are ignorant. I BLAME THEIR PARENTS, who need to be just that- PARENTS, and not their kids' friends or buddies. It's the PARENTS' job to teach their kids about s*x and relationships, plain and simple, and far too many of them don't do this, or they do it poorly because of embarrassment or their OWN IGNORANCE, or because they think the kid already has learned everything in school. Most of the schools do a terrible job of teaching kids ANYTHING about s*x or their bodies, and then they wonder why girls get pregnant at the age of 13 or 14. It's never dawned on a lot of the people who run the schools that the best way to prevent teen pregnancy ISN'T to forbid s*x- because that only makes teens want to try it more- it's to EDUCATE teens on how to PREVENT pregnancy and disease in the first place. Kids are going to have s*x, no matter what anyone says about it, if only because they are naturally drawn to that which is forbidden. Human beings are hard wired that way- it's just our nature.

s*x education means teaching girls how to recognize situations when a guy is feeding them a line to get them in bed, and showing them how to say no to it. It also means teaching GUYS NOT TO USE SUCH LINES. It also means giving BOTH genders a thorough, up to date, accurate explanation of the entire reproductive process, from beginning to end, and answering all the awkward questions kids that age often have. Kids need to be told the truth about a woman's sexual cycle, and how there is NO SAFE TIME when a woman can't get pregnant. They need to hear the REASONS why condoms are necessary, and why it's NOT safe to store a condom in a place like a wallet or in the pocket of one's blue jeans. Lastly, kids also need to be taught what to do and WHERE to get help if they DO GET PREGNANT, and about community resources which can help them. This should include information about how to talk to doctors and health care providers, and how to inform parents and deal with the feelings of rage and disappointment which are common when parents learn about a pregnancy. If you try telling this to any of the people who run most of this country's schools, though, they will laugh you right out of their sight. These are the idiots who still think that preaching abstinence is the only way to prevent teens from getting pregnant or having s*x. WRONG !!! It just gives kids more incentive to do it- it doesn't stop anything. We have seen a prime example of that on the national level right now, with the nomination of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate. Her daughter, Bristol, is 5 months pregnant- and she's 17 years old. This is a girl who, under other circumstances, would probably just have become another unfortunate statistic- and she still might. But because her mom's been nominated, she has become an instant celebrity- and they get treated much differently than the average person does. I don't like the hypocritical message the Republican party is sending to the teen girls in this country- but I consider it to be proof positive that their message has just not gotten through to a majority of the nation's teens. Kids will be kids- and the politicians' attempts to try to legislate their morality are going to fall flat on their faces. The more they try to put a positive spin on this, the more hypocritical they appear to be. We need s*x education in this country, yes, but more importantly, we NEED PREVENTION.

    Enough said.

  21. I suspect (or at least hope) they're just asking those questions to see what people will say.  "Look at me!!!!"

I'm not necessarily the most encouraged, though, by the fact that they're all posting these questions in this category.  I'm thinking the intent of this category was to discuss parenting adolescents. . . there's a different category questions about being pregnant really belong in, isn't there?  If they can't figure this out. . . well, maybe they're not the brightest porch lights on the block.

  22. sounds like you have 13 yr olds preggo and that really sad i mean im 14 and its sad when you see girls my age pregnant if you cnt protct yourself you shouldnt be having s*x and that my opinion i mean maybe theres an explanation for it but i mean thats crazy how many little girls are pregnant and they dont even know the risks there are with having a baby and being that young and sometimes small.

the womb isnt big enough for a baby yet! i honestly wish those girls good luck because if it was me i would be dead and out of my house.

  23. For the attention or just to annoy people.

  24. I used to teach s*x ed when I was a science teacher at middle school, high school, and later college and YES generally they are that uninformed.  An amazing number of my students were convinced that you can not get pregnant the first time (or first several times) you have s*x NO MATTER how old you are when you first have s*x.

  25. It isn't ignorance as much as  denial. They didn't want to believe it could happen to them and still do not want to believe it DID happen to them.

  26. Attention Whores.

  27. Yes, I think they are uninformed and when you add that to a permissive society, you have a recipe for disaster.

When my grandmother was a girl, in the early 1900's, there was absolutely no s*x education at all - not at school or at home, but girls knew without a doubt that if you allowed a boy to go "too far" you could end up having a baby, your reputation would be shot, you would bring shame and embarrassment on your family and you would have ruined any chances of a decent boy wanting to marry you.

Of course there were young girls who became pregnant then, but nothing like the number of young girls who are having babies now, some because of ignorance, some don't even know who the father is, some have had multiple abortions.

It is sad, but until parents take responsibility and teach their children some morals and values, I don't see things changing any time soon.

  28. is just that inexperience, and ignorance

  29. Well, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they were. Abstinence-only education is extremely harmful to young people.

  30. I say it attention. or wasn't taught very good about s*x growing up. I was in the 5th grade when I learned about protection. I am now 19 and still ain't

    pregnant.
