I want to whiten my teeth, but am a little skeptical about the products.

I heard that teeth whitening strips make your teeth sensitive, which ultimately leads to pain when eating or drinking cold things. Is this true?? Have any of you guys or know of anyone who used whitening products??

  1. Crest White strips r good but u have to leave them on for a while nd they r kinda expensive but i like em.

If ur teeth get sensitive just dont use them for a while like 2 dayz nd they will get better

  2. If you use Crest Vivid White toothpaste it REALLY helps, I use it and I can tell my teeth are getting white!

  3. Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In fact many dentists consider whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available.

A clinical study performed by Loma Linda University on the effect of whitening gel on tooth enamel, confirmed that Zoom! is safe. The study concluded that Zoom! does not adversely affect the microhardness and surface morphology of human enamel.

A clinical study was conducted by Discus Dental to evaluate the efficacy of the Zoom! system. Fifty subjects participated in a study that showed that the average shade change with the Zoom! system is 8 shades and that the Zoom! system is safe and effective for whitening teeth rapidly. In addition, minimal sensitivity was noted during the study, with a significant number of patients reporting no sensitivity.

  4. My friend used pearl drops for a couple of years and now her teeth are transparent and very sensitive - her dentist said pearl drops long term destroy tooth enamel - i had my teeth professionally whitened - they were so so sensitive and brought out motlling in my teeth which did go away but the dentist at the time did not know if it would or not - i did not finish the course because although my dentist didnt see a problem - common sense prevailed and i knew i was damaging my teeth - it took around 5 years - yes years - to get rid of the sensitivity - unless your teeth are really yellow i dont think its worth the risk

  5. It's said that they eat away at the healthy protective enamel layer which then exposes the tooth to decay at a higher rate. Also, the more you use them, with the worn out enamel, having a cup of coffee will stain the tooth even more! You have to bleach more and more. But I think doing it once in a while for special occassions is not a bad idea. After a single whitening session it's very unlikely anyone will experience sensitivity! The enamel isn't THAT thin, but with repeated use as many have to do to upkeep the white, there's no doubt the enamel will permanently suffer damages. Also, why do it through a dentist who charges an arm and a leg for the same products sold in stores? I'd do it myself for $50 from an over the counter product than spend a few hundred just to have a dentist do it! Unless you choose to have it done by lazer which is very expensive but again not worth it to do it that way since the results are always temporary (unless you stop eating and drinking lol). The only benefit of lazer is that it will whiten more quickly for someone who has to look good that day or the next day and has procrastinated.

  6. i heard they're only effective when you're older, not much use when you're young

  7. i've used crest whitening strips and they do work. i've never had any problems with sensitivity.
