Question:

Are television netwoks like ABC and NBC the same across the nation?

I know that in Los Angeles they're called "kABC" or "kNBC" or "kTLA" or "kCET" --and i know that the k represents the west coast. but is wNBC any different from kNBC? are the programs the same? just wondering.

  1. The networks have affiliates across the country. They take on various call letters depending on the ownership situation.

    Affiliates have the option to carry the network's shows. However, they can go elsewhere. This probably is most true late at night. Some of the overnight programming is skipped by stations in favor of infomercials, which are more profitable to the originating station.

    However, most programming follows the network guidelines. So, an NBC station in L.A. will have most of the same shows as the NBC station in N.Y.


  2. Yea there the same programing its just somtimes TV broadcasters like to do stuff like that.
