  1. to go from paris to lourdes, there are TGV from "Paris gare Montparnasse" to Lourdes.  its about 6:30 hours long.

about TGV, im not sure, but i think you must pay sthg more (the reservation) : go to eurail to verify.

or you can take other normal trains Corail from "Paris gare d'Austerlitz" to Toulouse (6:30) and then from Toulouse to Lourdes (1:00). these trains are not TGV.

in any case its gonna be a long trip, cause you go from north to extreme south of france !

if choose TGV (by bordeaux) you cd stop in :

    - tours

    - poitiers : beautiful city (roman cathedral) + futuroscope (video theme park)

    - bordeaux : one of the major cities in france, completely renoved, 18th century architecture.

    - pau : near the pyreneas, a great place for english people in the 19th century.

if you choose Corail (by toulouse) :

    - limoges or brive : nice old cities (not wonderful, 1 day is enough).

    - toulouse : wonderful city, the "pink city", bricked-built, very original.

    - close of toulouse (but not on the way to lourdes, you can go-and-back in the day from toulouse), Carcassonne : medieval city and castle, a jewel, unforgettable (UNESCO list)...

the french railroad site is http://www.voyages-sncf.com

  2. If you're a wine person, then you should stop in Bordeaux, which is wine country, in case you didn't know.

I took the same trip over the summer and I think the best part was just looking out of the window on the way there. The scenery is absolutely beautiful.

  3. Bordeaux! Beautiful, nice people, food & wine are delicious, and always  sun!

Take the TGV from Paris to Bordeaux (3hours 60€). Go visit Bordeaux and take a TER from Bordeaux to Lourdes (about 2 hours 30€).

if you want i suggest you the Futuroscope in Poitiers, Poitou-Charente (especialy for kids) or Toulouse, Montpellier or biarritz for the beach. Enjoy
