  1. No, I don't think so.

I believe they care for both though they are very different conditions.

Physical injury's are better to cope with cause they know the problem and most likely easier to heal, where as mental it takes more time and a little more personal.

You can talk about injuries freely in the media where is with mental it's kept hush hush.We know about it ,but it's not something they will boast about.

  2. Yeah I think so

  3. Oh yeah - they care a lot more about physical injuries than mental injuries.  They cost points immediately.

When was the last time you saw injury lists that looked like:

Cousins - addiction problems - season

Everitt - psychosis - three weeks

Richardson - chronic fatigue syndrome - test

Tredrea - superiority complex - will play

    :-)

Seriously an issue across Australia way outside football.  You can't claim a psychologist on Medicare but you can visit your doctor for flatulence and have it paid (not that I know of course!!)

  4. no i wouldn't say they were tyrants, they are a business as well as a sporting club and they have to run them in the best way that benefits all involved,in saying that there are also a lot of close relationships formed in footy clubs and generally i think clubs and the people involved try to do their best for the players, maybe in the past clubs didn't know how to deal with mental illness issues as well as the physical injuries players  carried but i believe they are recognising and getting better with dealing with mental issues

  5. I dont think its a matter of them caring less if a player has a mental condition - its just that mental illness has a stigma attached to it so its not as easily discussed in the media or publically by coaches as physical injuries.

I'm sure the clubs would take care of their players equally regardless if it were physical or mental.

For the exception of Wayne Carey who is an idiot and made hurtful remarks about depression when he thought he wasn't on camera.

  6. they are a business
