i don't know much. i am not a frequent traveller. my friend said that the french airhostesses are elegant creatures vastly superior than to their passensgers, but german airhostesses have evidently missed their vocation as prison guards, but they know what to do in an emergency. Thats all he said. pl share ur experiences.

  1. I've traveled a lot and would encourage anyone not to generalize about the quality of air hostesses because of their nationality.

Basically, the air hostess (or flight attendant, as is more commonly used) has two major roles: a) safety and security of the passengers; and b) comfort of and service to the passengers.

This tends to vary from airline to airline, flight to flight and even on the class that you fly; obviously in first class you will be well looked after whereas in economy things are quite differend and the ratio of flight attendants to passengers is lower.

My best experiences would tend to be flights with Singapore Airlines, Gulf Air, and Middle East Airlines.  My worst would be with United and US Air.

  2. I am cabin crew (male as opposed to "air hostess"!!) with a scheduled airline and my colleagues and I generally treat passengers sat in economy as well as our business class passengers. The only difference is the service items used i.e. glasses, cups and meals. With all passengers we try to use their names ( we get a list) and make them feel as comfortable as possible.

If it wasn't for our passengers we wouldn't have a job so they are equally as important to our role as safety.

This clearly differs with each airline but I can only speak of the one I work for.

  3. It appears your friend has either incorrect information or a bias, but there is virtually no or very little difference amongst flight attendants as far as nationality is concerned.  I have experienced a few quite rude flight attendants who turned out to be French and U.S., and have seen quite a few nice German ones.  This really depends on the airline.  As another reviewer has said, if it weren't for the passengers, they would not have a job, and most of them know it.  On the other hand, when one has to deal with rowdy, obnoxious or intoxicated passengers, then one can lose their patience, no matter what the nationality.

  4. On some airlines they would like to think so.

The Air France crew on board spend far too much time talking to each other and I for one do not find them hospitable to passengers in Eco class.

There on board security people on flights to West Africa are very ignorant people who think they are God.

This pisses me off and stops me from buying an Air France ticket out of my pocket.

I travel a lot around the world, so there loss.

I prefer Cathay Pacific who are the best and always will be.

It does not matter to them you are in the cattle class seat, always helpful.
