Are the Berbers significantly descended from the Celts?

i know they are not Celtic but an Afro-asiatic people but was there a limited degree of intermarriage

  1. I don't believe so. Often later intermarriage (in the last fewcenturies prior to bc and in ad) leaves relatively little on the genepool.

      Indeed the people we call 'celts' today have little or no genetic sharing with the mid_European (Hallstatt era) celts as described in the history books. instead they primarily match dna with the basques of Spain,though in a few areas there are dna signatures from neolithic settlements.

        The Berbers may however be descendants of a branch of the neolithic tribes that came to Britain, so there may be a slight tie there --but it would be LONG pre-celtic era,if you choose to put that era in the traditional iron Age (ther is a strong possibility celtic languages have been around since neolithic times.)
