Being an annual preseason favorite to contend to for the Cup, I'd have to say yes. They're always picked among the top four or five each year, except 2005, when the writers thought the cap had done them in. Oopsies.

As long as Haakon Andersson is scouting Europe, the Wings will be finding lots of Zetterbergs and Datsyuks.

No...theyre just a good team over a long peroid of time.

With the new NHL in the cap world...the red wings could be the closest a team will get to a dynasty. If they win another couple in the next three or four years, then they could be a dynasty.

A dynasty is generally accepted as a team that wins the championship for 3 consecutive years.  They are better described as a dominant team.

no dynasty is a word used for teams that are over. detroit has been thier with young guys , all star team in 02 and this year with a team no no names except a few. in history it will be but not yet

I believe that they are. But I think that one of the things that keeps people from saying they are a dynasty are their unfortunate early exits from the playoffs in recent years.

It also depends on your definition of a dynasty. The Wings may not have won as many titles in rapid succession as other Hockey dynasties or dynasties in other sports. But they have consistently been an elite team in the top 5 for 12+ years. Personally I think that qualifies.

Maybe in the new NHL, where it is hard to win consecutive Cups.  Detroit is a contender consistently.

No more than the NY Rangers or Boston Bruins were in their day... some team is always around the corner waiting to unseat any ruler!
