Are the Hispanic immigrants from Mexico really doing better in America than they did in Mexico?

I read somewhere that the people who immigrated to America from Mexico are living basically the same way they did in Mexico. Most are doing similar jobs than they did back home in Mexico but are making more money here. But their standard of living and way of life is pretty much the same because even though they are making more money in America, the cost of living is so much more here, so it is a wash.

Then what did they accomplish in coming here?

of course they are doing better, we are taking care of them by paying for all their bills and food with our tax money.
