Question:

Are the Jamaicans doping?

I'm skeptical. The Jamaicans won 5 medals (all track and field) in '04 and have 9 as of 8/22. Watching the women's 200 meter final there was a discernible physical difference in the musculature of the Jamaicans who won gold and silver. I want to believe them but it's tough to ignore the results and physical differences. Somebody tell me their training is superior or something that will make me believe!

  1. I don't think they're doping. I think they train really hard to do will in these Olympics.

  2. No, not even the ganga which we know they tend to like.

  3. Sure they're doping. Just like the US, Nigeria, Trinidad, Bermuda,  Bahamas .....

I think you get the idea.

  4. No i don't think so because all of the jamicans  go to college in the U.S . and run track. There are good because they compete against american athletes year around.

  5. No, the Jamaicans have always been good and track and field.  Unfortuantley lots of their medalists moved and play for other countries (ie: Donovan Bailey for Canada, etc).

Jamaica has always produced solid track and field athletes.

It's good for them, I think they deserve it.

  6. They wouldn't be allowed to compete if they were.  They're an amazing team though, no doubt about that.

  7. Until it is proven, they are not!!

However why don't I see you complaining when the Americans win medals in track and field. (Marian Jones anyone??)

  8. The Jamaicans have, however, been at the centre of the intensive drug-testing regime during these Olympics. Bolt's test after his victory was his seventh since he arrived and officials within the Jamaican camp were known to be unhappy about the scrutiny their athletes had come under.

Don Anderson, the chef de mission, said the team had endured an "extremely unusual" number of drug tests in Beijing. Speaking before the start of the athletics programme, he said the team had been tested 32 times in five days.

There were doubts expressed before the Games that Jamaica did not have an independent anti-doping agency but the worries were dismissed by the team's chief medical officer, Herb Elliott. "I don't care about the rumours," he said. "Usain has been tested over and over again.

"I say to them to come down, come down and see our programme, come down and see our testing and see how we operate."

Davies confirmed the degree of interest in the country's athletes.

He added: "The Jamaicans are being tested a lot, there's no question of that. We've target groups and we look at the top people. It's not about doubt. It's more about insurance."

Considering they have caught several cheats already, it is fair to assume that the first of these tests have not produced any anomalous results.

  9. I don't think so. I just think maybe USA is a bit unlucky; especially in both the male and female relays.

  10. marijuana, of course thats theyre culture.

  11. here we go again. another hater. jamaica has always had good sprinters. we never really got the recognition because we would come in 2 or 3. but the minute we start winning gold we doping. we aint no marion jones. is phelps doping too.

  12. No.

  13. haha

    Phelps are most likely doping

  14. not all of them

  15. jamacans have always been fast, they just dont really get to train and develope well in their own country so they move to australia and US and Canada on scholarships, then they tend to represent that country feeling that they owe them.

Finally they are receiving better training over there and are able to train there and in other countries but choose to represent their own country...

And im glad they are kicking the yanks arses!

  16. Their training is superior. You feel better?

  17. Believing comes from having faith in the honesty of the Jamaican People. Who regardless of the visible drug taking Americans’ who this Olympics were not that muscular as before, and some are even in jail serving time for their Olympic and world "embar-rass-ment' . Speaking as an Jamaican who have watched over the year my country's men and women work hard running again the full drug competition stay on their knees in prayer, running without shoe and sometimes having no money to pay their coaches for the hard work done, stand this 23rd day of August 2008 to tell the world that I Am A Believer in the Jamaican people and the strength of their character

  18. Accept them as a sprint powerhouse. The stupid allegations of doping because they win all their race is a petty excuse.

  19. Nah.  If they are, they'll get caught, same as everyone else, since they're freezing the samples of all the athletes.  Jamaica has a tradition of excellence in these events.  They also have excellent training, as many of them run track for US colleges.

  20. You seem to forget that Marion Jones went to jail and her teammates were stripped of their medals and no-one wants that to happen to them so maybe the Jamaicans have been  that good for years and have been competing against drug cheats for years and are now finally getting the medals they should have won years ago.

Remember the Eastern block countries dominated for years through drugs also Flo Jo her world record doesn't even look like being broken so maybe she was cheat or just better than the rest like Micheal Phelps is.

  21. I think they are just that good. All athletes are being tested after events and in particular they are tested if they medal, so doping I believe is out of the question.
