Are the Jets finally a contending team now that they have Brett Favre?

*If so, what would they need to do to win their division?

  1. A quarterback does not a team make. The Jets were 4-12 (I think) last season. That wasn't all because of Chad Pennington. Favre is an excellent quarterback and he can often carry a team to victory, but there is a limit to what he can accomplish. Also, he still has to learn the system at New York which is vastly different from the system in Green Bay. That will take some time and cause some bumps in the road. Finally, it doesn't seem like the whole team is behind him yet (e.g. Lavernius Coles) and that can create some problems too. We'll see how it goes.

  2. no cuz the dolphins are going this year with pennington

    woot go dolphins

  3. i guess

  4. While i think they will be a better team & maybe even make it to the Playoffs i don't see them still going to the Super Bowl.

  5. yes they will

in order to do that they need to beat the pats

  6. Having brett farve on your team is deffinitely a plus, but football is a team sport not an individual sport. So if they plan on being a contending team the offensive line is going to have to protect him, and the wide recievers are going to need to be able to get open. and your deffense needs to be good too. So brett farve will help but its a team effort.

  7. Being a division rival fan: the Buffalo Bills it should be interesting how this year plays out for the Jets. The Jets, The Fish and the Bills are still going to have to find a way to beat the juggernaut Pats and if we don't there is no way any one of us will unseat them. Great defense wins Superbowls and I think the Jets, just as the Bills do, have a long way to go.

  8. Dude, this is a tough question. I would have to see them play first. Considering the fact that there in the AFC, its going to be tough. At the end, its a dogfight to get in the playoffs in that conference. Favre is older, but he did help build up the packs young recievers and took them to the NFC championship game. If he brings back that rythem he had going on last year, he can make the team better. "Supposedly", the Offensive line is stronger. Favres protection is going to be vital in order to determine if he will last in New York, and if the running game  will help out. Thomas Jones( 1 rushing td, shocking!!!!!) I think   they have a shot.

  9. I don't think Favre is going to be enough to carry the Jets. They still have missing pieces to their puzzle.

  10. i think its definately a step forward but he will not be the miracle they need. hopefully they can have a good season this year...i tend to like them for some reason

  11. No, I think the Jets right now a team that needs to build its way up, not get one franchise player and call it a day. You see teams like Dallas, the 2002 Buccaneers and the Patriots dynasty, they aren't teams that got together because of one franchise move. It takes time and patience.

  12. 16-0 Pats, 7-9 Bills, 4-12 Jets, & 1-15 Dolphins. They have a 1000 yd rreceiverin Cotchery, a proven one in Coles, a 1000 yd back in Jones. An improved o-line, and replacements on the 18th ranked D in the NFL. You have a qb in Farve that has been questioned before...his team would go on to be 13-3, and he would be the runner-up in MVP voting. Who thought that would happen? The only question to be answered is how fast will he pick up the offense. Look @ the schedule. Other than playing NE twice, SD, at TEN, and at SEA?.......the other 11 games are winable.....

  13. I'd say no,

brett farve is old, although he does have a good O-line

the jets play in one of the best divisions in the NFL, they play the Pats twice and the bills wont be as bad as everyone thinks

they dont have a solid running game, and not too many receivers

and brett farve is on the cover of madden...Madden curse
