A lot more aggressive than the Major Leagues?

Just look at the brawl that happened yesterday. 17 suspended, 1 arrested.

  1. Maybe a little , but probably for a few reasons.

First of all, the players at the A level of the minors tend to be pretty young. Late teens, early twenties. And I know that I, even though I've never been exactly a hothead, was a little more aggressive at that age then I was once i got to be 25-30 years old. Secondly, the players are trying to move up. And although it's probably not a great thing to appear to not be able to control your temper better then they did yesterday, they probably have been fed the fact that they need to be aggressive to make it to the next level, and have taken that to mean that you never walk away from any challenge, even in a silly situation like that. Finally - the odds of this happening more in the minors is greater simple because there are more minor league teams then major league teams. Most every team has a AAA team, a AA team, 2 A teams, and a rookie league team or too. Throw in the independent leagues, and you probably have about 7 or 8 minor league teams to each major league team. And now that so many people have video cameras, camera phones, etc., you are more likely to actually see these things happen then you would have been 10 or 20 years ago.

The interesting thing will be what happens next week - when the Chiefs manager Ryne Sandberg returns to the team after taking time off for the Hall of Fame weekend. Be real interesting to be in that locker room his first game back.

  2. Everyone is trying to get noticed in the minor leagues.  Everyone in the majors is already there, so they don't need to create a way of getting out there.  In the minors they all have a chip on their shoulder as well, because they haven't gotten where many feel they should be.  So yes, in a way they are more aggressive than people in the MLB.

  3. well, i guess they have more to fight for in the sense that they havent made it to the majors yet, but i dont think they are more aggressive in the sense that they are more willing to fight

i think its also guys in the pros may have more respect for the game, or they realize that baseball is just a game. sure they do clear the benches every once and a while and throw some punches, but they dont go looking for fights.

  4. You've got to FIGHT.........

    for your RIGHT.......

to go to the BIIIIIG Leagues

  5. I think they are a lot of these players aren't even going to make it to the Majors and do things like this to get exposure, by the way that was a cheap shot when that guy jumped on the other guy's back from behind.

  6. mmm I wouldn't say more agressive, but there does appear to be more nastier fights in the minors

I think that has to do with the money they make which isn't a lot compared to the majors and there is a lot of hardwork trying to get to the majors.

so when things like you struggling happens it's harder to handle it.

it's a lot of work and at that point it seems like there is very little to no reward

  7. I would say much more happens in the minors that may go unnoticed, but things like the manager and the brawl were so bad they got attention. Major leaguers earn more money than minor leaguers and whatever MLB players do gets instantly noticed by many fanbases and media so it's important not to do what happened last night in the minors.
