  1. I really do not know ,although  mothman was to have the ability to communicate through modern means telephone etc. I lived close to the area in wv. where the bridge collapsed, as we had a bridge of the same type of construction, I can remember my father saying how they were really giving it a long inspection. Nothing was found at that time , but the bridge was replaced within a five year period.

  2. Never thought about that before. They sure do look alike. Maybe they should change Mothman's name back to T-Bird! I wonder if they'll make a car now named M-Man!

  3. No.

Thunderbirds are giant birds believed to have 25 - 30 foot wing spans.

In Ohio if memory serves is a cliff painting of a thunderbird carrying away a human adult.

The most recent theory about Mothman is that it was an extremely large owl that would stand about 4-5 feet tall.

  4. I agree they do look very similar, maybe they are the same.

  5. No one knows for sure what the Mothman was, but the Thunderbird legends date back to  Native American storis of large predatory birds that would precede storms, probably because they were soaring  and gliding on warm air currents that the incoming storm was generating.  Mothman semed to have more human physiology, ie... a torso, arms, and legs.  See Unexplained by Jerome Clark for detailed accounts of both.

  6. I think that based on descriptions I would say no.

The Thunderbird is usually described as a very large but normal bird. While the Mothman is described as a winged creature standing upright like a man.

    I have included links below.

Many experts believe that the Native American legend of Thuderbirds took place because of a large bird (Eagle, Condor, etc.) that rode the air currents in front of storms (they arrived before the thunder).

The pictures you provided do certainly look similar.
