  1. Are you kidding?

If you have ever played the game you would know how much skill and dedication is required to play at the highest level.

Sure there are joke teams that may never win a tournament but think of what is required to score a try, blistering speed, strength and positional awareness in putting your team mates into the gaps...

I suggest that people who think it is a joke sport are looking at the spectators rather than the players....

  2. Definitely. I don't think anyone actually goes to watch the field. Most go just to get drink and socialise.

  3. What do you mean a joke sport???

I think AFL is a JOKE sport!

Ive gone to watch the NZ sevens and it aint a joke...

    Its awesome rugby!

  4. NO!!!....the only thing that at the moment i find is a joke is this particular question asked.

  5. Sevens is great entertainment in every sense of the word and some great players are forced into the limelight and given their first international experience. This is a great time for fans etc to celebrate but lets face it so was one day cricket and now 20twenty cricket. Leave the excitement alone. You sound like you want 3 all draws in the longer version again.

  6. I think your fishing a bit mate. Why do you only mention  the NZ sevens and not the annual sevens tournament or the sevens world cup? We like it and if you don't like it then don't bother. Keep on watching soccer or something he, he,he. Kia kaha!!!!!!

  7. Nah.  Many 15s players play 7s or start playing in 7s.  David Strettle on England was a 7s star before being known in 15s.  It is very entertaining to watch if you like open field running (who doesn't???).

It is like a "playground" sport with more organization and played by adults, and personally, I think that's what makes it fun.  But believe me, if you go through the traning of 7s players, you wont think it's a joke.

  8. I can see where you are coming from. I guess it is a bit of a joke, without sounding sexist, when 65% of the crowd is female. I would imagine that most of the women, that dress up, are there just to have fun and be seen on tv.

Call me boring, but i would go there just to watch the rugby.

  9. ah your question is a joke...

  10. what are you, a member of the olympics comittee?

sevens isn't a joke. it's festive, yes, especially in the new zealand circuit, but it's great for the sport. it flows a lot better than 15s, making it a lot easier for the wider public to watch.

the crowd in wellington is superb. i'm sure the players much rather that atmosphere. it is possible to dress-up and have a good time and watch the rugby.

you wouldn't call football supporters clowns for singing for their teams, so c'mon, be fair.  :)

you just had to see the emotion on victor vito's face when he scored the winning try for nz in the final to know this version of the game and this sport is no joke.

  11. NO WAY NO JOKE, thats where some of NZ`s best rugby players start there career eg christian cullen, jonah lomu, eric rush etc. The spectators are the joke, its fantastic. The more outrageous the better.
