Yeah, I would say there squad looks the best but they have always looked like winning the world cup but seem to be chokers.

But if you look at the squad,

At Flyhalf they have 4 brilliant options Steven Brett, Carter, Evens and Mcdonald (The Chiefs flyhalf)

At flanks they have Mcaw, Soialo, Collins and Masoe and Many more.

They have depth in every position.

They are the benchmark that other teams rate themselves against, and currently the South African team is rated better. This is, however, based upon past results, not upon what is happening at the moment.

With the current outflow of top All Blacks (and ex-All Blacks) to the northern hemisphere, it'd be hard to rate the All Blacks as the best squad, though South Africa also has lost some of their best. Why does this matter? Because players who have left for the northern hemisphere are not eligible to play for the All Blacks in the current season.  

How will they rate this year? The only way to find out is in the international matches to come.

of cause the ALLBLACKS are the best team in the world,the best team in rugby history.Just look at their stats over the past 100yrs,sth Africa has only won 7 games from 22 atempts since the game has gone professional,england has won 9 games from 23 atempts.

I could go on and on but at the moment the ALLBLACKS are the best team,we are our worst critics and we  always judge our team by our losses which are rare thing to us..GO ALLBLACKS

No, based on the fact that I believe that 'best squad' doesn't mean just raw skill. They lacked the mental strength in the world cup to win it, which they should have.

Yes, they have by far and away the best SQUAD of any nation. NZ's depth is pretty awesome and you'd back them to beat any other nation on a given day.

No team can be 100% succesful though, so you've just got to learn to live with the odd loss here and there.They've still hammered everyone over the last 4 years, including the French.

ummm its debateable. because they always lose in the big matches, talent wise i rekon they would be but not team playing. i beleive austrlia is going to be dominant for the next 5-10 years with all our young kids comming through

The question is debateable Some say Yes. Some say No.

Technically speaking, RSA won the RWC last year so they should be the best. It also depends on how the IRB works out its numbers for the rankings. What factors determines those numbers if it was measured by the book. However, winning the RWC does not measure players abilities, skill levels etc. Thus, its hard to establish who has the best squad, because if there was a World XV team, obviously, they'll have the best squad.

But if it was measured by past sucsess of say time frame 5 years ago, the all blacks record speaks for itself

No.  They got beaten in the quarter finals of the World Cup.  Went to sleep and France took full advantage.

They have one World Cup, 1987.  Australia and South Africa have two each.

I have to say a resounding YES. The AB's strength and success (and I'm not talking about winning competitions here) can be attributed to its culture and structure. There is no other team that comes even a goal post to the respect, privilege and honour that this team commands. No other rugby playing nation can or will ever aspire to the heights that the AB's have enjoyed for years. The culture that surrounds this awesome team comes from the raw and rural dreams of everyday New Zealanders. The kiwi dream is still very much alive and well and will continue because we are a nation of achievers a nation built on egalitarian values and a nation of firsts. Wherever or whatever our kiwi sons and daughters do one thing remains constant among all of them....

"they know where they come from and where they are heading and they invite all those who want - to join them on there journey"......

The AB's certainly continue and maintain these same values that is why they are still the best!

technically no there not, the IRB (international rugby board) rates them 2nd behind the current world champs South Africa.

however these rankings, in my opinion dont truly reflect the abilities and the fiets of which these teams have achieved on this list, e.g. wales (current 6 nations champs, ranked 6th)

i believe that the all blacks are the best team at the moment, slightly because of my biasness as i am a new zealander but also because of what they have achieved both past and present.

the all blacks in my opinion will dominate the tri-nations this year and there only true opponents would be wales(who are coached by a NZer).

the NZRU released there report on the RWC2007 failure and found that some leading players such as McCaw and co neglected the orders from the top to take a drop-goal. whether this happens often, we'll probably never know unless one of the team members releases an autobiography(most likely).

i hope the've learnt there lesson over this and sharpen up for 2011, because the majority of the NZ public made them feel the pain when they lost and i think that'll be even worse if they did it on homesoil.

NO WONDER ALL OUR PLAYERS ARE LEAVING!!!
