Question:

Are the Olympic Judges biased? China has won so many Gold Medals!?

They've won almost double the amount of gold medals than the US.

I watched the whole gymnastics show the other night and let me first say I don't know much about the sport but the China girls were falling on their butts and not landing smoothly and yet they were still in contention. They even won a bronze on that ight when there was another girl from like Russia or something that looked to do a better job than the china girl did?

Has anyone else noticed this or is just me?

  1. Yes, the Chinese gymnast didn't have a smooth landing, but the difficulty of her vaulting routine was higher than the American gymnast's.  Thus, giving her a higher starting point value.  Also, she had a VERY good first vault, which helped bring her average up.

China has won more gold medals than the US because China is VERY good at a smaller number of events; like table tennis, shooting, archery, weight lifting, diving, and gymnastics.  Unlike the United States, which has good athletes spread out in many events.  China dominates certain events, whereas the United States does well in many.

Also, the olympic judges can't be biased in unjudged events like table tennis, weight lifting, and shooting.

  2. when the US is winning all the medals, no ones complaining, but when some other country starts winning the gold, the judges are biased. OH PULEASE!

  3. Yes, completly!  No country can judge their own country therefore these other smaller countries that do not even compete in gymnastics are judging the United States.  Most other countries want to see the US fail and ultimatly we should be superior in every event.  Did you see the opening ceremony?  We are the most diverse, melting pot country we except every nation and nationality and are extremly competitve in our athletic competitions.  There should be no surprise that we would win the majority of the Gold Medals.  By the way to everyone else defending China, I have no problem if another country is truly superior in defeating the US.  The only way to truly know if your country is truly in the lead is indeed to watch the events that need no scoring.  I am sorry did you see the Korea and US boxing match?  All he did was hold his hands up over his face and it's only 4 rounds, the US boxer knocked him over on his butt several times.  He only won because he did not do anything.  In a real boxing match the US boxer would have knocked him out surely after 12 rounds which is what boxing is all about.  Not how well you can hold up your gloves in front of your face for four rounds.  Also, in womens gymnastics those chinease girls DID NOT deserve their medals.  They were not superior and yes, the judging was completly biased.  The Olympic games when scoring and judging have been involved are a complete disappointment and in no we are accurate about who has the better performance or athletic ability.  Watch closely for yourself and then respond.

  4. i totally agree with you.  i dont hate them, but i cant stand how they are ripping everyone else at the olympics off.

next time, they should make the olympics take place in some country where the same country doesnt participate in the games.

  5. Clearly it is subjective.

Thats why track and field and swimming are superior events.  No judges to award gold to the wrong athletes.  The result is absolute.  Thats why China will win no medals in athletics.

I know that hurts China.  But watch and see if its true.  You can't bribe a finish line.  Or lie about its distance.

  6. China has completely made olympics a joke with all their gold medals. the u.s. has all the world champs on their team nastia and sawn are freakin awesomme!!!!!!!

stupid scorign system. of course the change is right b4 the olympics in china.

  7. Yea it seems kinda suspicious, but I'm pretty sure the U.S will get the most medals all together.

  8. The judging in gymnastics is really F'ed up this time at the Olympics.  It's almost laughable how bad it is.

And someone above mentioned that the Chinese girl had a higher difficulty....look, if you want to say something like that then at least make sure you know what you are talking about.  The difficulty for BOTH were exactly the same that's why everyone is so surprised about the tiebreaker and why Nastia got 2nd. Don't be stating stuff that is absolutely false.

  9. well i think so, but no one else seems to notice cept for you.

seems to me the chinese are so desperate to win, that they would judge unfairly, and force underage girls to illegally compete.

wow, china, way to show apprieciation for th olymics being in your country!

well, its mostly just the government, not the people.

  10. I have noticed the same!! I think Judges are either bribed or out of their minds.

  11. Incredibly.  They aren't proving the age of the gymnasts either.  Did you watch boxing?  Totally rigged.

  12. Who think that Atlanta 1996, American Devers robbed Jamican Ottey of Women 100m Gold even both tie 10.94s?

Who think that Athens 2004, American Paul Hamm robbed Koreans Kim Dae-eun and Yang Tae-young of Men Gymnastics Men All-Round Gold due to wrong marking?

  13. The difficulty of the Chinese girl's routine was much higher. That's why she got the higher score even though there were more deductions.

  14. They're not biased, just stupid.

  15. Yes, in many cases the judges have come across as being biased (e.g. in the shooting), however many Chinese athletes are undisputedly the best in the world.

  16. it sure seems like it.

i do gymnastics, so i know a lot about the scoring and stuff, and that girl that landed poorly on the vault should have had way more deductions, which would have given Alicia the bronze. same with Nastia tonight. her routine was much nicer to watch, yet she got stuck with silver.

The judges seem to be blatently favoring China, and that is just wrong. everything should be based off of the skills they perform and how well the do them.

and the age thing is really getting on my nerves too. it is not possible to be 16 and 65 pounds. being smaller and lighter is an obvious advantage, and the IOC really needs to investigate that. it all just seems like a joke.

  17. Yes, the judges are totally biased.  The Chinese male gymnasts were admittedly better than the other teams of male gymnasts, but the Chinese female gymnasts were very shaky and made far more mistakes than the American female gymnasts, but nevertheless won most of the medals.  Additionally, and most egregiously, Chinese gymnasts got higher difficulty scores compared to non-Chinese gymnasts whose routines were absolutely identical.  There's obviously no excuse for this.

  18. so i supppose the judges were bias and the olympics were rigged in the LA in 1984

the US won 83 gold medals.... 63 more then romania, who was second in gold medal counting

i believe you are the one that is bias

  19. NOPE!

Were the judges biased in Atlanta 1996 when the U.S. won more medals than any other country??????

C'mon, the "magnificent seven" of gymnastics wasn't all that magnificent, especially when compared to the superior Romanians and Russians.

  20. I think the judges are biased, and I'm fairly sure the Chinese government is leaning on them.  For one thing, they refuse to investigate the Chinese gymnasts' true ages (and they are definitely NOT 16).  Then there's that little incident when there was a story online about the Chinese gymnasts' ages (the first such one), and the next day that page had been taken down.  Finally, there's this debacle.  When a gymnast falls or checks their balance, that USUALLY constitutes a deduction.  That does not appear to be the case with the Chinese gymnasts.  I was watching the Women's All-Around Individual final the other night, and China's Yang Yilin had many balance checks on her balance beam routine, and still received a very high score (so high, in fact, that the announcers seemed shocked).  Now one of their gymnasts actually FELL, normally a HUGE deduction, and took the bronze medal that should have gone to Alicia Sacramone, who DID NOT FALL and performed a great routine.  Of course the judges are biased, and it's because the communist Chinese government is leaning on them, and they have already proved that they are willing to cover it up (see above).  What a disgrace!
