It seems like whenever I watch the Olympics we are winning a medal.I know we DO dominate, but don't the networks put on events that we are likely to de well at.

  1. i think networks play mostly what America is good at in order to keep our interest. although i love watching all sports and all countries, most americans only want to see what america is good at. For example swimming and gymnastics are always on TV and to no surprise America is amazing at both. However, no one ever sees sports like field hockey, which is just as interesting if not more interesting to watch, simply because USA didn't qualify in that sport. It is unfortunate but true.

  2. no it doesnt seem like they only put on things that the US happens to dominate at it may just be the ones they can get the best coverage of

  3. when i watched rowing on nbc, WE LOST BAD

  4. Actually, I think it's based on what are the most popular events, which events make for dramatic television, or events with interesting story lines. There is simply no way NBC could show everything. But it's pretty much a no brainer to show the women's gymnastics finals rather than archery or handball. And it's a no brainer to show every swimming final where Michael Phelps is going for gold. But how much interest would there be in a water polo match between China and Angola.

But to NBC's credit, they do make video of many other events available on their other channels and on their Olympic web site.
